Feb. 6 is the national kickoff of the American Dental Association’s 13th annual Give Kids a Smile program, which provides dental services to underserved children. What started out as a one-day event has grown into a year round effort that benefits approximately 350,000 children through more than 1,500 events throughout the United States.
“No one has a heart quite like our colleagues and referring dentists,” says New York City orthodontist Dr. Mark Bronsky. “Many of them will be volunteering their time and services to provide screenings, treatments and education to these children, and we couldn’t be prouder.”

While we specialize in orthodontics, we have found a way to give back to this same population of kids in need through the Smile for a Lifetime Foundation.
Smile for a Lifetime launched with the goal of reaching people with financial challenges and unique situations that prevent them from addressing their orthodontic needs.
As a participating Smile for a Lifetime chapter, we provide complimentary treatment to patients who normally would not have access to orthodontic care,” says Dr. Bronsky. “It’s a great opportunity, and nothing feels better than giving a child a beautiful smile that will last a lifetime.”
The organization sponsors the treatment of hundreds of patients annually, according to its website. Our orthodontic practice treats six children through the program each year.
“Our board of general dentists, school counselors, teachers and other professionals in the community, offers helpful insight into selecting candidates for treatment, but referrals and applications are always welcome,” says Dr. Bronsky.
