Behind The Curtain: The Technology of Bronsky Orthodontics
Orthodontics today looks very different than it did even a decade ago. There are now an incredible array of options available for treatment, each one with a higher level of precision and efficacy than ever before. These advancements coincide largely with the advancement of modern technology. Bronsky Orthodontics has fully embraced these changes, incorporating the latest and greatest technology into our practice to ensure that our patients receive the very best. We’re proud of how we’ve stayed aligned with each new development, and are committed to bringing emerging technologies into our New York City office.. It’s also important to us that our patients have the opportunity to learn about the technology we use to understand its role in their treatment.
How We’re Using Technology to Break The Mold of Orthodontics®
From patient intake to treatment planning and completion, technology plays a crucial role in modern orthodontics. Many of these you will see in action, but some take place behind the scenes; all are a vital part of our success. Learn more about the technology we utilize at Bronsky Orthodontics below:
Digital Information Intake
At the beginning of your orthodontic journey, you will fill our intake forms via our in-office iPads. This is a secure and convenient method of obtaining medical history and demographic data using our American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) Medical History Form.
ITERO® Scanner
The iTero® is a cutting edge digital imaging system that allows high resolution 3D images to be captured in seconds. It is quick, comfortable, and precise, leading to higher accuracy and a smoother experience overall. 3-D modeling shows a patient’s current orthodontic status and allows us to plan for an orthodontic result that optimizes function, health, and dentofacial esthetics. The iTero® scanner allows us to begin treatment with the end in mind. It is used for the planning and implementation of both fixed appliance therapy (braces) and removable appliance therapy (Invisalign®). Our office has been working with the iTero® scanner since it came out on the market. In fact, our office was selected as a beta-testing site prior to its original release in 2007.
Digital Photography
We use digital photography to allow for optimal planning and accuracy with diagnostic work prior to and throughout treatment. With the goal of attaining the best results for each and every patient, frequent diagnostic photos help keep treatment on track to achieve desired goals throughout treatment and beyond to the retention phase. Additionally, digital photography allows us to keep our patients informed throughout their orthodontic journey, depicting what has been achieved thus far and what outstanding goals still remain.
Diagnostic Radiograph (X-Ray) Digitization
Bronsky Orthodontics utilizes digital X-Ray units to capture low-radiation, high-accuracy diagnostic images. Two radiographs, Lateral Cephalometric Radiographs (also known as cephs) and panoramic radiographs, are taken on every patient as a standard of orthodontic care. These are used to discern orthodontic needs prior to and during treatment. Our office has developed our own set of measurements based on extensive education and training to combine the most useful diagnostic measurements for optimized accuracy in both diagnosis and treatment.
Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP)
Our doctors are well-versed in the use of Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP) with Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (OMFS) in the planning and execution of treatments that require surgical/orthodontic therapy. Using 3D imaging, scans, and professional software, we are intimately involved in the diagnostic and implementation of orthodontic preparation prior to surgical procedures to correct jaw position discrepancies. These measurements and planning tools are made to be as precise as possible, either to the fraction of a millimeter or a degree, to guarantee the most accurate surgical result.
Three-Dimensional Computerized Tomography (3DCT) Utilization
The team at Bronsky Orthodontics are highly proficient in the utilization and reading of 3DCT images for patients in need of more specialized procedures. This may include surgical exposure/bonding of impacted teeth, tooth removal, diagnosing pathology, planning orthognathic surgical procedures, and more. These scans help plan the most appropriate orthodontic mechanics to guarantee the most optimal orthodontic result.
Communication Systems
We have chosen intra- and inter-office communication systems that work efficiently within each office and between our Park Avenue and Tribeca offices. Our Voice over IP (VOIP) phone system, Weave, allows instant private communication throughout both of our offices. This helps expedite all office procedures, including scheduling, patient needs, and the planning and implementation of all current and future procedures. For patients, Weave saves time by identifying incoming calls, automatically bringing key information to the screen for quicker service. For missed calls, an automatic text will be sent regarding a callback. We chose Weave over other systems due to their AI features, helping to both transcribe call summaries for charting and to direct any after-hour patient calls. Through Weave, we bypass outdated procedures to streamline communication for both patients and staff. This advanced, flexible system helps enhance the patient experience by aiding in timely delivery of orthodontic care and efficiency in accurate post-appointment planning.
Bronsky Orthodontics Website (BronskyOrthodontics.com)
The newly designed website you’re reading right now was written by TECHYSHOUTS® out of Los Angeles, California. Our content management system (CMS) is a new “headless” format that offers a more organized and thoughtful presentation of website content. The new site brings a more effective way for patients to search content, making it easier to learn about our practice and the intricacies of orthodontic treatment. It features information about our facilities, doctors, team, treatment, clinical results (before and after presentations), frequently asked questions, community involvement, and beyond. We’ve also incorporated an AI chat function that allows patients to communicate with us any time of the day or night with rapid and accurate responses.
MME® Computer Specialists
Since 2007, our office has worked with MME Consulting® out of Sacramento, California. This computer consulting firm operates in the United States, Canada, and other countries around the world. MME provides us with the most effective and efficient computer systems available in the orthodontic specialty. This includes 24/7/365 protection and surveillance with world-class firewalls to keep our records and data safe. Continuous upgrades allow for the highest levels of speed and security, giving us the most optimal practice management systems available in our specialty while also enhancing patient service.
Web and Internet-Based Services (ZOOM®)
In the modern world, convenience is key. With that in mind, we offer virtual consultations and meetings through ZOOM® using a high-speed internet connection. These meetings allow patients and families to attend consultations without missing school or work, visualize ongoing case progress, and monitor and direct treatment remotely. We currently have patients in active treatment living in all seven continents thanks to the ability of virtual appointments to help keep treatment on track.
Cutting Edge Clinical Technologies
Our practice continually strives to lead at the forefront of technological advancement to enhance clinical outcomes and promote a top tier patient experience. Beyond the aforementioned technologies, we also utilize:
Digital Orthodontic Laboratories for accurate fabrication of patient appliances
The iTero® Scanner for accurate 3-D impressions, limiting use of conventional impression materials
Ultradent Valo™X Fast Action Curing Lights to expedite appliance placement along with the strongest bond strength possible
AlgerLight Units provide bright, highly focused lighting while eliminating standard “pull-down” dental lights, giving patients more personal space during treatment and optimizing sanitation standards
